Game Preview - 2018 Round 15

By Samuel Lindsay

vs Northern Suburbs (A)

How good it was to witness Southern Districts take the airwaves on the weekend! It's been a long time coming but the attacking flair and defensive display in the final ten minutes surely justified our spot on 7Two. Fingers crossed there'll be more to come over the final few rounds as the closing stages of the season really start hotting up. Southern Districts are heading to North Sydney Oval in the latter rounds of the season for the first time in a long time with the trip across Sydney Harbour occurring in the opening five rounds in recent years. Returning to the winners circle last weekend against Eastern Suburbs building momentum at the right end of the season, a second win in as many weeks would put the Rebels in a prominent position before welcoming Sydney University next week. Northern Suburbs head into this contest on the back of a week off, following the Penrith bye.

Shambeckler Vui was not listed in the Waratahs squad released on Thursday and it's expected the big man will slot into the vacant number three jersey. In the centres Will Thomas has been declared fit after suffering a head knock in Round 13 after being rested last week, Will made his first start for the Rebels back in Round 9 and will be hoping for a similar result second time around. Man of the Match from last weeks fixture Denny Godinet is also available and with the looming return of Apolosi Latunipulu, Head Coach Matt Barr has decided to keep his options open. Bayley Kuenzle has been named in Colts this week and will be strutting his stuff on the Forshaw turf, another reason to head down to catch all the action this weekend. Dewet Roos and Jamie Verran are poised to make their returns in Second Grade this weekend after lengthy stints on the sidelines. Another milestone this weekend as Alex Perez makes his 50th club appearance in conjunction with his 50th First Grade appearance. The backrower has been in impressive force this year attacking the breakdown and solid in defence, here's hoping he'll cap the milestone with another stellar performance.

Back at home, Colts are currently sitting third on the ladder only one point behind second place Gordon. Last week they secured a vital victory over fourth placed Eastern Suburbs in what has been regarded as one of the biggest Colts crowds at Forshaw. This weekend is no different and with some fresh returning talent our Colts are looking even more appealing. If you're not heading across the harbour, get down to Forshaw and make last week the second biggest Colts crowd! First grade will be kicking-off at 3pm at both grounds.
