Max talks NSW B vs Samoa A

On Monday Southern Districts had 9 players take part in a match between NSW "B" and Samoa "A" at St Marys Stadium. Somoa won the match 35-12, but some our boys went quite well.

Our hooker John Ulugia who is returning from a chest muscle injury received playing against Manly last season had a very good all round game, with his line out throws being right on the money.

Sitaleki Tamani's younger brother Lapeti had a strong physical game from number eight against a very tough oposition, Lapeti has come to us from the Bulldogs and we as well as NSW are looking for big things from him this coming season.

Local boy Sean Doyle (Backrower) a player that has had a tremendous off season which is a credit to him, had another very good outing at this level with some very good work at the breakdown and some strong carries, look for some top performances from Sean this coming season.

Apo Latinpulu did not have as many opportunities as he has had in previous matches, having just left school Apo just needs more rugby at this level on regular bases and he to will be a tremendous asset to South's in the midfield.

Ryan Shortland, a player that has joined South's from Otago (NZ NPC) after previous stints in Rugby league with the Storm and the Warriors had a tremendous game with lots of involvements in both attack and defense, scoring a good try after calling for his insides to kick ahead for him to chase and get the touchdown.

Prop Tetra Faulkner was as always strong at scrum time, also had some good carries and was solid in contact, Tetra so rarely has a bad game and certainly has a real future at the next level.

Rohan Saifolio our fullback from last season played out of position on the wing and struggled from this position having had some stellar performances at Fly half in previous matches.

Our other hooker Nick Seymour was on for some 10 minutes late in the game with litle chance to have any real impact in on the game.

We are playing our first trial this weekend on Saturday (5th) at Forshaw against Manly, these players will not be turning out so there will be an opportunity for some other young hopefuls to play for a spot in the higher grades.
