Round 2 Wrap
Dear Southern Districts One Club 2012,
7 games - 2 wins and a solid reality check for some
Well the second week of the competition got off to an early start with the season launch on Friday afternoon. A good crowd attended to hear some great insights from Wallaby Rob Horne, Waratah 's Kane Douglas and Brackin Karuaria-Henry on all things rugby while the crowd enjoyed some funny stories told by special guest Daryl " the big man" Brohman. The afternoon was topped off by comedian Kenny graham. The afternoon was made possible through some great support from our sponsors especially Harry and Carol Peters of Marine Product Marketing for the wonderful entree and Kevin Maloney of the Tulla group for the generous donation of the auctioned corporate box to a Waratahs match- won by loyal sponsors RMG Partners.
Special thanks to Bev and her hard working staff as well as Neville Shooter for his update on teh competition and season address, Darren Bray, Stephen Harris for all their assistance leading up to the day and on the day as well.
So onto the rugby- a tough road trip for the grade while the colts played host to the Pirates.
The scores at concord were
4ths lost 27-12
3rd lost 26-9
2nds WON 32-7 and are competition leaders
1sts WON 32-25 and are competition leaders
My reliable source tells me that the lower grades came up against some bigger opposition but not all is to be lost- he is sure the rebels will bounce back sooner rather than later. while the top 2 grades used all of the 80 minutes to get the desired result including a much needed bonus point.
The colts scores were
3rds lost 15-14 in a real tight exciting game
2nds lost 31-6 by a massive Wests side
1sts lost 45-12 by an even bigger Wests side.
Other results in First Grade.
Gordon 29- Randwick 22
Warringah 37- Easts 14
Manly 28- Sydney Uni 26
Eastwood 37- Penrith 12
Parramatta 13-Norths 10
So on to round three- the televised match of the day against the Manly Marlins- who are also unbeaten is first grade. This game should be a cracker and we all know the boys play better in front of a big local crowd- so get down to Forshaw for what should be a great day.
Membership is still open while we have a wide range of merchandise like the 2012 polo shirt, hoodies, training singlets and the newest addition, the 2012 tie- all available at the club.
