Round 7 WrapWell- its finally happened- we are on top of the 1st grade comp again( first time since round 1) after 1st grade defeated Northern Suburbs at North Sydney Oval 35-13. A great effort at a field that is always hard to win at.
The 1sts again gained a bonus point win and due to other results are now sitting 3 points clear on top of the Shute Shield premiership. Earlier in the day the lower grade all came up against some tough opposition with 2nds, 3rds and 4ths all tasting bitter defeat at the hands of the Shoreman. Never mind lads- I am sure the coaches will have you firing for this week’s home match.
The colts had a mixed day with the mighty 3rds having a great win 17-5 , 2nds lost on the bell 22-24( scoring more tries than their opposition) while 1st colts came up against a very underrated North’s side, winning comfortably in the end.
This week we host Penrith in grade while the colts are scouring the compass- 3rds at Chatswood and 2nd and 1sts at Penrith. The games at Forshaw will be at normal start times and don’t forget guys…ITS LADIES DAY. We thank the efforts of Sharryn Amesbury (AUSPAK) and Joy Moore (RMG) for their efforts in turning back the clock to provide a Groovy Ladies Day.
Each week we recognise our hard working an invaluable volunteers and this week it is our walking rugby encyclopedia Steve Johnson - our diligent and hard working scoreboard attendant. What Steve doesn’t know about rugby isn’t worth knowing – so much so that he is the statistician and historian for the NSW Waratahs. Not only does he keep the scores at grade games, he has been seen to frequent the colts fixtures when his time permits. Steve has a long association with the seniors and is a product of following his kids play for the Sylvania Bulldogs. Rain , hail or shine, Steve works the very old scoreboard and has been seen to spend his own time fixing it up. We thank Steve for his efforts and acknowledge him as our volunteer of the week.
So… let’s get down to this week. Come on down to Forshaw and cheer on all the sides as they battle the mountain men in what will be 4 great , entertaining games of rugby- enjoy the best burgers in club footy (as mentioned on 2SM talkin Sport) or the best pie in the shire, not to mention the coolest beer with the warmest smiles.
You have to be here to enjoy it.
