SDRC in the NRC, Waratahs and Wallabies

SDRC players have been very busy since the conclusion of the Premiership Shute Shield competition with continual involvement in the NRC competition.

The Rams were well represented with the following:

  • Matt Gibbon – a very young prop who held his own in every game
  • Brandon Paenga-Amosa – Hooker with a hearty taste of the goal line scoring try after try
  • Fili Tufui – Lock who carried well, jumped and was most effective at the tackle contest
  • Waldo Wessels – Our scrum half who distributed the ball brilliantly and created opportunities for others
  • Mitch Walton – Playing flyhalf and attacking the line well
  • Apo Latinupulu – SD’s rampaging centre who always found the gain line and tackled well
  • Denny Godinet – the other centre who found space for his wingers and tackled everything that moved
  • Luke Smart – a flanker come winger who finished brilliantly
  • Paul Asquith – captained the team from 10,12,13 and is looking to be back in SD colours in 2017
The Rays picked up:
  • DeWet Roos – halfback who controlled the play, and refereed when allowed….
  • Angus Ryan – our lock who should have been given more game time.
Other NRC teams included:
  • Alex Gibbon – Brisbane City, left winger and one of the best finishers in the game.
  • Tim Metcher – Prop for the Rising, who loves scrummaging.
Waratah representatives include:
  • Jed Holloway- #8 try scoring machine, prior to injury
  • Sam Lousi – Lock who has been signed by Wellington Hurricanes in 2017
The Wallabies have also been getting better with the likes of:
  • Kane Douglas –SD Lock of repute, who brings a wealth of knowledge
  • Rory Arnold – a SD 3rd grader in 2011 who has graduated to the top. At 208cm and 120kgs he adds some size to any pack
  • Lopeti Timani – #8 who loves carrying and who played 42, first grade games with SD from 2011-13
  • Allan Alaalatoa – prop who played with SD in 2012-13
  • Rob Horne – winger, who has unfortunately suffered another injury
Congratulations one and all, and especially on our latest Wallaby debutants.
