Thanks from Paul Asquith
Favourite Son Paul Asquith is off to play in the UK for "Scarlets". They play in the Guinness Pro12 championship, as well as the Anglo-Welsh Cup and the European Rugby Champions Cup (Heineken Cup). Based in Llanelli in South-West Wales, they are a championship winning side with a wealth of talent including 2017 British and Irish Lions Jonathan Davies, Ken Owens & Liam Williams.
On his departure after the cracking win over the woodies, Paul gave us the following message for players, members and supporters.
“ I would like to thank everyone at Southern Districts for giving me the opportunity to play for the club again and to have the honour of being 1st Grade Captain this year. My biggest disappointment in going overseas is not being able to contribute to Souths winning the premiership this season as I truly believe the team can do it. Souths is my club and always will be, and all my opportunities to date are the result of playing Colts and Grade with terrific players and learning from coaches I respect and appreciate. The Trainers, Physios, Team Managers and Club Management have always made Souths a great place to play rugby along with all the supporters who come to the games. For someone from the country who grew up playing Junior Rugby for Kiama the best decision I made was to play for Souths when I decided to play in Sydney. If I get the chance in the future to play again in Sydney I know where I will go first. Thanks again to everyone, go Souths!!”
We wish you well Paul and look forward to your return from abroad.
